Tips
If you want to become a successful Distance Education student, you will need to apply the following qualities:
Personal Motivation
We want you to be able to finish your program and graduate, but as much as we would like to, we can’t be there to cheer you on in person. You will need to draw the strength from Christ within to endure. If you can remain motivated, you can stay on task and complete your coursework.
Effective Time Management
You will not be able to rely on regular class meeting times to provide structure for your studies. Setting aside time each week to hear the lecture, study, and complete the assignments is essential. You must be able to establish a learning schedule on your own and then stick to it (self-discipline)!
A Good Learning Environment
The Distance Education learner needs a place to read, think, and write that is free from distractions and interruptions. That environment does not need to be available to you 24 hours-a-day, just when you need it. Easy access to sources that you will use is also crucial.
Good Writing Ability
In the Distance Education learning environment, all communication is virtually done through the written word, and your learning is assessed by what you communicate in your writing. Develop your strength in this area.
Computer Literacy
Students need an understanding of computers and the Internet in order to successfully access and complete the course material. Word processing abilities will be a huge help to you.
